Mayor Gemma Adana of Naga town, Zamboanga Sibugay was abducted from her home Monday night, police said.
According to reports from Zamboanga Sibugay police, Adana was taken by force by five unidentified gunmen from her residence in the village of Taytay Manubo in Naga at around 9:15 in the evening.
Her abductors were allegedly wearing bonnets and military uniform. Reports said they took the 45-year-old Adana, who is serving her third term as town mayor, to a motorized pump boat and fled toward Kaliantana, also in Naga town.
Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Captain Rowena Muyuela confirmed the abduction and disclosed that the military is aiding the police in pursuit operation.
