Blaze Razes The Original Savory Restaurant in Binondo

A fire broke out at The Original Savory Restaurant, an iconic fried chicken eatery near Jones Bridge in Binondo, Manila before noon Thursday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze started at 11:02 a.m. and reached fifth alarm by 11:24 a.m.

The fire spread to nearby building and reached Task Force Bravo by 12:39 p.m.

It was declared fire out at around 1:58 p.m., BFP officials said.

A report on ABSCBN News said the fire originated from an exhaust fan. No one was injured in the incident.

The nearby Jones Bridge was closed to traffic during the fire.

The Original Savory Restaurant, which started out as a small panciteria in Quiapo in 1950, was a dining institution in Escolta, a once bustling street in Manila’s old downtown district of Binondo.
