A village guard allegedly shot a 17-year-old janitor dead in a subdivision in Iloilo City Monday night.
The guard, identified as John Noel Calaor, however, maintained that the shooting incident was an accident.
In a statement, Calaor narrated that he was putting down his handgun when it suddenly went off, hitting the victim, Crispin Alarba, in the head.
A fellow security guard of Calaor relayed that the suspect and the victim would always joke about firing a gun.
But authorities are not buying Calaor’s alibi.
“He will be charged with homicide,” Police Station 1 Chief Senior Inspector Jojo Tabaloc said.
The police are verifying whether Calaor owns the caliber .38 handgun used in the shooting.
