AFP: Internal Security Operations to Continue Amid Election Duties

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has assured the public that its internal security operations (ISO) will proceed uninterrupted, even as it assists the Philippine National Police (PNP) in securing this year’s midterm elections.

AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla emphasized that the military will perform tasks mandated by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), including checkpoints, ballot security, and other election-related duties. “Our ISO will continue, and whatever tasks the Comelec assigns, the AFP will carry out,” Padilla said during a Radyo 630 interview on Sunday.

The AFP will also support the PNP in maintaining law and order to ensure peaceful and orderly elections. Padilla highlighted the military’s commitment to professionalism and non-partisanship, noting that the AFP trusts its personnel to uphold these principles during the election period.

The AFP reassured the public of its readiness to fulfill its responsibilities while maintaining its role as a neutral and united organization.
