Sleeping security guard being robbed caught on CCTV

A close circuit television has caught a sleeping security guard being robbed of his bag in Pasig City last Sunday (November 6).

The video, aired on GMA 7, showed Aldichris Simeon Perodes sleeping on his outpost in STI College along Shaw Boulevard corner Pioneer Street.

A man later identified as Anthony Pajalig, alias “Kulot,” was seen observing Perodes for some time. After a few minutes, Pajalig attempted to get the guard bag which was placed in front of the sleeping guard who was sitting.

The video showed the guard briefly waking up but immediately returning to his stupor. At some point, Pajalig briefly went away to buy a cigarette. He came back however and slowly moved to get the guard’s belongings. Afterwards, Pajalig boarded a passenger jeep.

At this point, watchmen from the barangay arrived and apprehended the suspect.  Kagawad Melvin Villaluz of Barangay San Antonio said they were informed by the Barangay Command Center of what was going on. Thus, they immediately proceeded to the area.

Danny Montero, a member of the barangay security force, said the suspect has been victimizing security guards, stealing not only bags, but also guns.

Reports of sleeping security guards while on duty are common. But this is the first time that a video showed the direct consequence of the guard’s negligence. The incident highlights the need to improve the quality of work from our security guards.
