5.9-magnitude hits Surigao

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake shook the province of Surigao Friday (March 16).

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the tremor happened at 3:58 p.m. with the epicenter at 2 kilometers southwest off Dinagat Island.

Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) measured the tremor at magnitude 5.7 and the epicenter at 25 kilometers north northeast of Surigao.
