Magnitude-5.0 hits Samar province

A magnitude-5.0 earthquake struck the Samar-Leyte region at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday (April 25). No casualties and major damage were reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter was at 90 kilometers North Northeast of Tacloban, Leyte and 94 km East of Calbayog, Samar. It has a depth of 122.8 km.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded the earthquake as a magnitude-4.9 with the epicenter at 40 km northeast of San Policarpio in Eastern Samar.
