BREAKING: 2 Ships Collide in Cebu waters, Ship with 600 passengers Sinks

A passenger vessel and a cargo vessel collided in waters off the shore of Talisay City in Cebu around 10:00 p.m. August 16.

A 2GO vessel, M/V St. Thomas Aquinas, carrying more than 600 passengers collided with Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corporation (Formerly Sulpicio Lines) cargo vessel Express Siete.

M/V St. Thomas Aquinas is reported to have sunk 30 minutes after collision.

Authorities and volunteers are currently conducting search and rescue operations for the passengers of the sunk ferry.

SecurityMatters sources indicate that only 60 people are confirmed to have been rescued as of 10:30 p.m..
