A passenger bus fell from the Skyway in Parañaque City early Monday and landed on a van below, killing at least 22 people.
According to Skyway Corp., a Don Mariano Transport bus (UVC 916) on the southbound lane going to Alabang in Muntinlupa City fell from the elevated part of Skyway in Barangay Marcelo Green, Parañaque City and smashed into a van below past 5 a.m.
The van driver was among those killed. The bus driver, however, survived. Eight more were rushed to various hospitals.
Based on initial investigation, the bus plies the Novaliches-Pacita route.
Luis Panganiban of Skyway’s command center said traffic is now heavy from C5 to Sucat due to the incident.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, meanwhile, has suspended the franchise of Don Mariano bus for 30 days.
