Heavy Rains, Floods Cause Suspension of Classes in Manila, Pasay

Heavy rains and floods prompted the suspension of classes in Manila and Pasay cities Tuesday.

Classes in all levels in both public and private schools were suspended in Manila today, Mayor Joseph Estrada said in a phone-patch interview on GMA 7’s early morning show Unang Hirit.

The city government of Pasay also suspended classes from preschool to high school.

The Department of Education (DepEd), meanwhile, also called off classes in all levels in Taytay, Rizal following incessant rains.

State weather bureau PAGASA has placed the entire Metro Manila and nearby provinces of Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon under yellow rainfall warning due to a low pressure area (LPA).

However, PAGASA said the LPA is not expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone, but will bring rains over parts of the country in the next few days.
