Meralco consumers can heave a sigh of relief as the power utility firm announced lower rates for the month of September.
In a statement Monday, Meralco said generation charges, which account for the biggest share in the cost of electricity, went down from P5.63/kWh last month to P5.19/kWh, its lowest for this year.
This translates to a P0.58/kWh decrease in power rates for households using 200 kwh of more per month.
Meralco said the dip in generation and transmission charges was a result of adequate power supply.
“Less forced outages were registered by power plants during the August supply month. In contrast to July, when the Luzon Grid experienced instances of generation deficiency, no Yellow or Red Alerts were declared in August,” Meralco said.
