7.3-Magnitude Quake Rattles Nepal

A strong earthquake rattled eastern Nepal, near Mount Everest, two weeks after more than 8,000 died in the devastating 7.8-magnitude quake.

According to the US Geological Survey, the tremor had a magnitude of 7.3 and depth of 15 km. Its epicenter was located 76 km east of Kathmandu.

Latest reports from Reuters said the death toll has risen to 16 while hundreds were injured.

Five casualties were from the town of Chautara, the seat of Sindhupalchowk district, which had the biggest death toll in last month’s massive quake, Reuters said.

The tremor was felt as far as Dhaka in Bangladesh and New Delhi in India where two people were reportedly killed.

The quake resulted to even more physical damage, traumatizing the already jittery population.
