Valenzuela Fire Victims’ Remains Buried Temporarily

Twenty-one of the 72 bodies retrieved from the deadly fire that gutted a Valenzuela factory on Wednesday were buried temporarily last night, GMA News reported.

According to the report aired this morning, coffins containing the remains of the victims were numbered for identification and retrieval for subsequent DNA testing.

After proper identification, the Valenzuela city government will send a notice to families of the deceased to claim the bodies for funeral and final burial services.

At yesterday’s press briefing, Mayor Rex Gatchalian said the owners of Kentex Manufacturing Inc., assured him that they will extend financial help for medical and burial expenses to the victims’ families.

Gatchalian also said that the owners are willing to face legal consequences for the tragic fire that claimed lives of the factory’s workers.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the remaining 48 fatalities are scheduled for temporary burial at 2 p.m. on Friday.
