Retired Police Officer Nabbed for Gunrunning

A retired police officer was nabbed in a sting operation in Iloilo City on Monday for alleged gunrunning.

PO3 Danilo Indico, 51, of Barangay Caloy-ahan, Lambunao, Iloilo was caught selling a KG-9 machine pistol for P40,000 to two undercover police officers around 1:40 p.m., Monday, in an entrapment operation by the Iloilo City Police Office’s Special Operations Group (SOG).

Authorities also seized a caliber .45 pistol with two magazines and 13 live ammunition from Indico.

SOG chief Inspector Ramiro De Jose said a tipster informed them of Indico’s involvement in illegal activities.

Indico allegedly engaged in gunrunning after retiring from the service in 2013. He was placed under surveillance for a week prior to the entrapment.

Authorities are not discounting the possibility of Indico’s connection to a bigger gunrunning syndicate.

He will be charged for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
