Agusan Del Norte, Philippines – A female member of the New People’s Army was killed in a firefight between troops of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the New People’s Army (NPA).
A violent encounter between the AFP and NPA happened on Sunday, 19 March 2017 at around 3:45 p.m. in Barangay Hinimbagan in the town of Kitcharao in Agusan del Norte. Government forces were on patrol when they encountered the rebels; when the unidentified female NPA member hit the ground, the group quickly withdrew and scattered.
An AK-47 rifle was recovered from the fallen NPA rebel and her remains were turned over to the Kitcharao Municipal Police Station.
