The escalating unsolved crimes in the country as well as those crimes prevented and solved have popularized the use and need for Closed-circuit Television (CCTV) among many business establishments here and abroad. While CCTV is a great tool in crime prevention and solution, our government has imposed strict regulations on the use of such devices and has pending bills in the Senate that would put more weight and limitations on its use. Problem is, how do you know that you’re not breaking any law with the use of CCTV in your establishment in spite of good intentions? Or how sure are you that your operator knows the legal matters of CCTV usage?
Atty. Paulino L. Yusi, Chapter Chairman of ASIS International Philippines, will discuss the legal restrictions and proper usage of CCTVs in his presentation entitled “Philippine Legal and Regulatory Framework and Limitations on Use of CCTV and Its Recordings” at the CCTV 202: CCTV Operators Course on June 6-7, 2013 at The Bayleaf in Intramuros, Manila.
He will share and explain the known laws and pending bills on the use of CCTV, relevant rules on Philippine electronic evidence, limitations on CCTV recordings, privacy rules of nanny cams, and other legal restraints.
Prior to joining the private sector in the early 90s, Atty. Yusi served his country as a State Solicitor at the Office of the Solicitor General handling various trial and appellate cases for and against the national government and its officials sued in their official capacity. Currently, he is a Lawyer at Romeo Yusi Brillantes Bondoc Javier & Ruiz; Legal Consultant at RBO Group of Companies; President, Chairman, & CEO at Royal Security Agency, Inc.; Corporate Secretary & Director at Healol Pharmaceuticals Corp. (Phils.); and Chairman at TightGuard Security.
Joining him as speakers at the CCTV course are Mr. Ace Esmeralda, Managing Director at Ace And Associates Risk Management Inc. and Editor-in-Chief at SecurityMatters Magazine; Mr. Alvin Matabang, safety/security practitioner; and Ms. Stella Neo, Manager at Bosch Security Systems Pte Ltd, Singapore.
