Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Vice Chairman Aleem Abdulaziz Mimbantas passed away last May 3 in Lanao del Sur due to an illness.
Mimbantas was one of the pioneering leaders of the MILF, who devoted and offered his entire life to the Bangsamoro struggle for freedom and right to self-determination.
According to luwaran.net, Mimbantas and Ghazali Jaafar, Vice Chairman for Political Affairs, led the MILF during the courtesy meeting between JICA President Akihiko Tanaka and the MILF Central Committee at Camp Darapanan last May 1, 2012.
Mimbantas was also the second highest official of MILF who joined Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim during their historic meeting with President Benigno Noynoy Aquino III in Tokyo, Japan in August 2011.
