The Dasmariñas Village Association (DVA) has decided to replace the security agency providing security in the village following the incident involving the convoy of Makati Mayor Junjun Binay.

The DVA has issued a circular informing its residents that it will no longer acquire the services of Right Eight Security Agency. The circular mentioned that the measure seeks “to address the issue of loss of confidence” pertaining to the way the agency management handled the incident.

The circular cited that the agency gave unauthorized and inaccurate representation of DVA to the media and inaccurately cited policies involving VIPs, pertaining to the Nov. 30 incident.

On the evening of November 30, a convoy carrying Makati Mayor Binay was stopped in the Banyan Gate of Dasmariñas Village. Village policies state that no vehicle is allowed to exit from the said gate at that time in the evening. Instead of turning around to use the authorized gate, the mayor’s security detail seemingly intimidated the guards. When police personnel arrived, the police confiscated the guards’ firearms and “invited” the guards to the precinct. The convoy eventually passed through the unauthorized exit gate. The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported the incident after getting hold of the CCTV footage.

First Eagle Security Agency was tapped to replace Right Eight, but the DVA decided to retain the Right Eight guards that are currently serving in the village. “They have been given priority to be absorbed by First Eagle Security to continue in Dasmariñas village,” said the DVA circular.

Last December, the four security guards involved in the incident were commended and given gifts by residents of the village for implementing the village security policies.
