The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised the orange rainfall warning in Metro Manila and the provinces of Bataan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Rizal, Tarlac and Zambales late Sunday evening.
PAGASA raised the orange alert level at 10 p.m. as Typhoon ‘Luis’ makes its presence felt through Luzon. ‘Luis’ made landfall in the Isabela-Cagayan border on Sunday afternoon.
An orange warning means 15 millimeters-30 mm of rainfall is expected in the next two hours. Residents in affected areas are advised to be on alert for possible evacuation.
The state weather bureau warns that flooding could happen in low-lying areas if rain would continue for the next couple of hours.
Pagasa also raised a yellow warning signal over Quezon province.
Meanwhile, Marikina River’s water level has reached second alarm as water has reached more than 15 meters on Sunday night.
As of 11:20 p.m., the water level already reached 16.3 meters, the city’s Public Information Office said.
No storm signals have been raised over Metro Manila but according to PAGASA forecasters, Typhoon Luis has a large diameter that affects weather across Luzon and parts of Visayas.
