PDEA Destroys P355-M Worth of Illegal Drugs

Illegal drugs worth P354.87 million were incinerated in a facility of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Trece Martirez City, Cavite on Tuesday.

The drugs, which weighed a total of 92,059.1130 grams (92.059 kilograms) were composed of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, cocaine, marijuana, ephedrine, ecstasy, methylphenidate hydrochloride or ritalin, dormicum or midazolam, rivotril or clonazepam, lorazepam or ativan, alprazolam or aloram, diazepam or valium, and expired medicines.

Based on the consolidated report of PDEA Laboratory Service, among those destroyed during the activity were 57,454.75 grams of shabu worth P333,237,550; 5,177.90 grams of cocaine worth P23,300,550; 1,977.86 grams of marijuana worth P98,893, and other dangerous drugs seized from various anti-narcotic operations that were kept and used as evidence in court cases.

“These are part of the illegal drugs that were seized during operations conducted by PDEA combined with those turned over by other partner drug law enforcement agencies that are no longer needed as evidence in court,” Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr., PDEA Director General, said.

Officials of PDEA and other law enforcement agencies, representatives from the Department of Justice, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), the Pubic Attorney’s Office, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and media witnessed the destruction held at the Integrated Waste Management Inc. (IWMI) facility in Barangay Aguado.
