Security protocols at the Senate of the Philippines have been drastically escalated to an emergency posture following actionable intelligence from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) warning of an active, highly credible security threat targeting the legislative complex in Pasay City.
The hardening of the perimeter comes amidst an unprecedented domestic instability matrix, marked by a bitter leadership impasse within the upper chamber and raw intelligence pointing to mid-level military unrest.
The Threat Vector
NBI Director Melvin Matibag formally briefed lawmakers during a closed-door Blue Ribbon consultative meeting on Monday, presenting a developing threat matrix directed at the Senate building and its 2,000 civil servants.
