Security guards in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) were caught on video allegedly manhandling and beating up two foreigners last September 27.
The video was posted online and went viral. Netizens reacted against the manner in which security guards apprehended the two foreigners.
The incident was reported to have begun with an argument between the two foreigners and a female security guard.
The two foreigners, identified as Sam Reynolds and Christopher Edwards both British nationals, were skateboarding along 5th Avenue when a female police officer advised them to move in the park. The two obliged but at the park, a lady guard confronted them because skateboarding is not allowed in the park. After failing to stop the two , the lady guard called for backup. The scuffle began when security guards tried to confiscate the skateboards. The lady guard was reported to have been hurt.
The two were reported to have been trying to escape but were eventually caught by the security guards. A bystander was able capture on video the instance when the two were caught resisting the guards.
BGC management have filed charges of malicious mischief and slight physical injury against the two. The two British nationals were reported to be planning to file a counter-suit.
Meanwhile, Bonifacio Estate Services Corporation, the management of BGC issued a statement on the incident.
“Regarding a video showing an incident involving BGC’s Marshals:
We have reviewed the video and it indicates that certain members of our security personnel resorted to inappropriate behavior and we are currently conducting a full investigation of this incident.
Meanwhile, we also filed formal charges against the two foreigners who had hit and hurt our lady marshal and another male marshal when their attention was called to certain violations of BGC’s community rules, and before their apprehension was captured in the video.”
