The Philippine National Police has tagged the youngest brother of suspected carnappers Raymond and Roger Dominguez as the one behind the killing of government witness Alfredo Mendiola.
PNP Spokesperson Senior Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr. has announced that more conclusive evidence have been uncovered in connection with the ongoing investigation into the murder of star witness Alfred Mendiola and two other victims Mark Herrera and Eriberto Jumaquio whose bodies were found in Dasmariñas, Cavite last May 6.
Cerbo said two handguns found in the possession of Ryan Dominguez and James Jimenez upon their arrest last Tuesday (May 8 ) in Malolos City matched with two of four spent cartridge cases found in the Cavite crime scene.
Forensic investigators also extracted two cal.45 bullets from the body of Eriberto Jumaquio, and these bullets also matched the two handguns of Dominguez and Jimenez.
Upon their arrest for weapons and drug possession, Dominguez, Jimenez, Roy Blanco and Mark Mario Lakambakal all tested positive for drug use.
Cerbo said the suspects are now facing criminal charges for illegal possession of firearms, drug use and possession of illegal drugs, carnapping and fencing.
Recovered from the youngest Dominguez and his cohorts were two cal.45 pistols, two M16 rifles and two handgrenades and 5.714 grams and 5.23 grams of shabu.
Cerbo said because of the physical evidence linking the suspects to the killing of Mendiola, Herrerra and Jumaquio, investigators are also preparing to file a case for Multiple Murder against the four suspects.
Meanwhile, forensic examination is underway for hair strands, bloodstains, soil and latent prints lifted from the Toyota Hi-Ace van of the victims, Cerbo said.
