Janet Lim-Napoles was moved from her detention cell at the Makati City Jail to Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna around 5:00 a.m. on September 1.

Napoles, who surrendered to President Aquino in Malacañang last August 28, was initially detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Headquarters in Camp Crame. She was transferred to the Makati City Jail on the orders of the Makati regional trial court, where a criminal case of serious illegal detention is pending against her and her brother for charges of serious illegal detention of Ben Hur Luy. Her brother, Reynald Lim still remains at large.

Napoles’ camp filed a petition for transfer to a safer jail, which was granted by the Makati RTC last August 30, hence, the move to Fort Sto. Domingo in Laguna.

Fort Sto. Domingo is the headquarters and training ground of the PNP Special Action Force, the elite counter-terrorism unit of the PNP. The detention facility inside the camp has been used to detain high-profile detainees namely former President Joseph Estrada, Moro National Liberation Front chairman Nur Misuari, and then coup leader and now senator Gringo Honasan.
